I'm based in Cumbria and enjoy creating 2 and 3 D art.

 

I like working with wire and enjoy the challenge of sculpting with chicken wire to create life size characters - it's great fun. Working in my roof space, to save injury from metal shards in the house, I try to get the general proportions correct from photographs then make allowances so as to create the slight quirkiness and cartoon quality which makes me smile. I'm also very fond of sculpting with Fimo Clay and make varied pieces focused on hosting clambering men, "Busy Bods", busying themselves in silly tasks on one sort of background or another, such as box canvases, perforated metal sheeting, conventional celebration cakes or cheesy truckle cheesecakes.

 

If it's too hot or too chilly to be making stuff from wire in the roof, I mess around making "Inky Bits" from Fimo and or draw or paint in the kitchen. I especially love life drawing, and enjoy the process of improving my drawing and painting skills with an enthusiastic group of arty bods at "GoFigure" in Braithwaite, near Keswick.  Sometimes though, it's just nice to put on a pair of walking boots, grab a fully stocked rucksack, and go out and about sketching.  Maybe I might refine the scribbles at home but more often than not I don't get that far.
